ABOUT APAA

APAA is a public, non-profit, charter high school which services any 9th-12th grade student residing in Aiken County. APAA offers a traditional college prep curriculum and AP classes, along with classes in the arts. ABOUT AMY PIZIO-MOORE

Mrs. P-Moore grew up in RI and has been dancing all her life. She attended competitions and performed in Disney with RI's Steppin' Out Dance Studio. She received a BA in dance from the State University of New York at Buffalo where she choreographed and taught at local studios. She was also a choreographer for student productions and was a guest choreographer for Young Choreographers Showcase. She attended the State University of New York at Brockport for her MA in dance education where she performed and choreographed in student productions and was the Concert Commitee co-chair. She previously taught 6th-12th grade in Latta, SC where she was Color Guard Director for the Marching Band placing 2nd in the SC State Competition. She is certified to teach: tap, ballet, jazz, modern and acrobatics through Dance Masters of America and has attended and graduated from their Teachers Training School program. She is also a certified teacher in SC and NY. She currently teaches dance at Burns Dance Studio in Aiken, SC and at APAA.

 

 

 

 

 ABOUT APAA DANCE

Beginner, intermediate and advanced classes are offered focusing on jazz, modern, ballet,tap and contemporary techniques.

All levels have a performance component to their class and will be involved in a minimum of 2 main stage shows per year. Additionally, there are various other performance opportunities including: community performances, talent shows etc.

Advanced students are offered the opportunity to assist in lower level classes per the permission of the instructor.

 Performance and rehearsals are a mandatory part of the dance class and will happen many times over the school year. Additionally, there are some costs associated with the dance class including: costumes and shoes.
